This piece combines a distant horizon with a bird’s-eye view of the land below, glimpsed through gaps in the clouds.
The tactility of the paint, the contrasting colors and layers, all emphasize the depth and complexity of a skyscape we only ever see while in a plane. The fragmented clouds provide a sense of movement and fluidity.
This painting merges different vantage points, encouraging a deeper contemplation of our our own scale within a greater sky.
This piece was part of the "FOUND HORIZONS: Imagined Topographies" exhibition at the JHP Art Gallery.
