This piece transitions from floating clouds in the foreground to land masses in the background. Of course, this is viewed from above, seamlessly blending into a different sort of "horizon". The depiction of wetlands, with its "tipped up" perspective, evokes the varied perspectives of early 20th-century painting, offering multiple viewpoints within a single composition.
The contrast between clouds and land emphasizes the fluidity and transformation of natural forms over geologic time. Including the dynamic relationships between sky and earth as two forces rubbing up against each other like tectonic plates of different matter and meaning.
This piece was part of the "FOUND HORIZONS: Imagined Topographies" exhibition at the JHP Art Gallery.
