oil on cradled wood panel

Similar to the painting titled "Filaments" and other pieces in the Sea Smoke series, this work represents the surface of the water evaporating and merging with the air above. It is painted thickly, with scribing through to the metallic gold underpainting. This technique creates a shimmering effect, capturing the dynamic interaction between water and air seen elsewhere.

The vibrant colors and textured layers emphasize the process of evaporation, symbolizing the constant exchange and transformation within the natural world. By using thick paint and scribing techniques, I convey the movement and fluidity of this process.

This piece was part of the "FOUND HORIZONS: Imagined Topographies" exhibition at the JHP Art Gallery.
