This painting, an experimental color study, is closely related to and was painted simultaneously with the artwork titled "Filament". By using the same two saturated complementary colors as "Filament", this study investigates the interplay between the vibrant hues and the effects of translucency achieved through the incorporation of a wax medium. Formalist in its engagement with the medium of paint, the painting is not just a simulacrum of color relationships but a physical entity composed of textures and layers.

The tactile quality of the surface invites viewers to interact with the painting as an object, emphasizing its materiality and the process of its creation. The complex, translucent surface contrasts with the simplified color palette, which is defined by the choice of the two complementary colors and the composition.

This piece was part of the "FOUND HORIZONS: Imagined Topographies" exhibition at the JHP Art Gallery.
